TCCTR Cryptography Reading Group

The Cryptography reading group is devoted to the discussion of modern cryptography. While we will be primarily focusing on the mathematics of cryptography, we will also be discussing many of the public policy issues involved.

Currently, the reading group has four faculty members:

Jennifer Beineke, Mathematics
David Cruz-Uribe, SFO, Mathematics
Ralph Morelli, Computer Science
Ralph Walde, Computer Science

Anyone who is interested in participating should send e-mail to one of the listed participants.

SKIPJACK RESOURCES:

During the Spring of 1999 we discussed the SKIPJACK and KEA algorithms. These are symmetric and public key alogorithms designed by the National Security Agency (NSA) for use with classified material. They were declassified in June, 1998, and are a unique opportunity to examine state-of-the-art NSA encryption technology.

NRTU RESOURCES:

Information about the NTRU public key cryptography system, as discussed by Jeff Hoffstein in his April, 1999, colloquium, can be found at the NTRU website.

GENERAL RESOURCES:

The computer science department has a page devoted to elementary cryptology.

There are far too many cryptography resources on the Web to list more than a tiny fraction of them here.
