I graduated from Trinity College in 1997, where I had a double major in History and Creative Writing with a minor in Mythology. Following my time here at Trinity College, I completed an MA program in English (folklore concentration) at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as the University of Louisiana--Lafayette). I am now working on my Ph D. in history at The Catholic University of America. I also work full time as the Academic Affairs Coordinator and Assistant to Associate Dean Nanette S. Levinson at the School of International Service at American University, where I've worked since July, 2001.
I was born December 5, 1975 in Boston, MA, and I grew up in Canton, MA, a suburb of about 20,000 people, just south of Boston. I've got two brothers, Dan, who finished his Bachelor's and is working on his MBA at Clark, and Brian, who's a Class of '99 grad of Canton High School (my alma mater)
Outside of class, I've played rugby (when I've had the time), and like to spend time with friends and write poetry. I've completed the first full draft of my book, Jimosophy. I've completed editing, and it's now copyrighted (you can check out a few chapter s on here). I hope to get it published sometime. And I got a car in August '96: it's a white 1990 Ford Probe.
I've taught two sections of English 101 and 102 at USL and my senior year at Trinity I was an Academic Mentor in the First Year Program. That means I assisted a professor (Professor Susan Pennybacker to be exact) in her freshman seminar: Urban Life, Urban Culture; Coming of Age in the Metropolis 1890-1990's. I've also developed an interest in theater. This year, I performed in Trinity's Festival of Chekov Shorts with visiting Russian directors. I was also Mr. and Lee Randolph in our Spring Musical, Sunday in the Park With George, part of Trinity's Sondheim Symposium.
I wrote my MA Thesis on the "Evil May Day" riot in London in 1517, and my undergraduate Senior History Thesis on the reputation of King Richard III of England (ruled 1483-5) with Professor Niall Brady. Any thoughts, e-mail me and let me know!
I also did a comparative independent study with Professor Sheila Fisher on heroic myths in various cultures and eras.
