Welcome!

Welcome to my home page!

I recently (2000) obtained my B.A. in Slavic Linguistics from Trinity College, in Hartford, CT (hence the location of this page, obviously). My major was self-designed, combining linguistics and computer science, and emphasizing the use of computers and the Internet in the teaching of foreign languages, particularly those belonging to the family of Slavic languages. Naturally, getting my major approved also included a thorough education in academic bureaucracy, as student-designed majors are somewhat uncommon at Trinity.

After graduation, I worked at Yale University's Center for Language Study as a Language Technology Specialist, essentially doing exactly what I wanted to be doing. However, despite the great appeal of scenic New Haven, I was doing it in a city I didn't want to be living in.

Hence, in mid-September 2000 I moved up to Cambridge, MA, where I have been wanting to live for years now, and started job hunting. For my first year, I held various temporary positions through John Leonard Personnel Associates, working as "Dean" (hey, it's what the sign on my door said) of Student Activities at Bunker Hill Community College, and in secretarial positions at the Boston Public Library Foundation and McLean Hospital. In August of 2001, I started work as Technical Coordinator for the Multimedia Language Lab at Boston University's Center for English Language. Finally back in my field, and living in a new and nicer apartment than before, I am happily settling in to life in Boston. The next step for me will be graduate school, which I plan to start part-time some time within the next year. I am considering several programs at BU, and am currently leaning towards the M.A. program in Applied Linguistics. I am also finally planning on returning to Prague in the Spring of 2003 for a week or two. Anyway, that's enough random info about me for now. If you want to know more, poke around, e-mail me, etc.
