Research Opportunities

There are many ways to become involved in research as an undergraduate. The easiest way is to talk with professors to find out which research projects interest you. To start, go to the Biology Department's web page that lists faculty research interests.

Students who work with me tend to be interested in field work. However, students don't have to be planning on a career as an ecologist or wildlife biologists. Past research students have gone on to medical school, law school, lab work, graduate school, and private business. What's important is that you are motivated and committed to research, you like working out in the field (under all sorts of weather conditions), and you have a good bit of time to commit to research.

If you are interested in conducting research with me, please set up a meeting to discuss opportunities with me. To see a list of past research students and their projects, please CLICK HERE.

Teaching Opportunities

The two introductory biology courses with labs (BIOL 182L and 203L) need a number of Teaching Assistants for the various lab sections. Teaching Assistants usually receive academic credit (BIOL 466-09). If you're interested in being a LAB TA for BIOL 182 (Bio II) or 203 (Bio III), please contact me before the pre-registration period.

Both BIOL 182 and 203 need a number of Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders to conduct peer-led study sessions throughout the semester. SI Leaders are paid for their work through the SI Program. If you are interested in applying to be an SI Leader, please contact me for information and an application form.
